Wesleyan to sponsor "Cans Across the
Conference" event

Rocky Mount,
NC
- The USA
South Athletic Conference
Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC)
is conducting its fourth annual "Cans
Across the Conference" competition. The
yearly fundraiser involves the
collection of canned goods for donation
to needy organizations and families
during the holiday season. North
Carolina Wesleyan will be sponsoring
this worthy cause by offering free
admission to Saturday's football game to
anyone who donates five canned items at
the gate.
Bishop fans who already receive free
admission, including faculty/staff,
students, media, and BBC members, are
still encouraged to participate in this
event. All donations should be
dropped off at the main gate.
Saturday’s contest could be one of the
biggest in the program's brief history.
The Bishops will host Ferrum College at
1:00 p.m., and with a win, Wesleyan
clinches its first USA South Conference
Championship and NCAA playoff berth.
Making the day even more special is the
pre-game ceremony in which head coach
Jack Ginn will honor the program's
inaugural senior class.
The “Cans Across the Conference”
competition will run through
mid-November,
and at that time, a trophy will be
awarded to the USA South member
institution that collects the most items.
