Saari and Rumyantsev sweep weekly men's tennis awards

Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that sophomore Antti Saari and freshman Alexey Rumyantsev have swept the USA South's weekly awards for men's tennis. Saari was tabbed Player of the Week for the third time this season, while Rumyantsev earned Rookie of the Week accolades for the first time in his career. The two helped NCWC clinch the regular season championship this week with a perfect 6-0 league slate.

MEN'S TENNIS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Saari, a sophomore from Lahti, Finland, grabs Player of the Week honors for the third time this season after going 2-0 at #1 singles and 1-1 at #1 doubles this week. Saari earned singles wins over top players from USA South foes Averett and Methodist. In doubles play, he teamed with Rumyantsev to defeat Methodist's top duo, 8-4.

MEN'S TENNIS ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Rumyantsev, a freshman from Moscow, Russia, earns Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in his career after going 2-0 at #2 singles and 1-1 at #1 doubles this week. Like Saari, Rumyantsev turned in singles wins over players from USA South foes Averett and Methodist. In doubles play, he teamed with Saari to defeat Methodist's #1 pair by an 8-4 score.
