Wesleyan
cheerleaders
volunteer at Rocky
Mount Parks & Rec
Rocky
Mount, NC
- Head coach
Samantha McAuliffe
and her Battling
Bishop cheerleaders
continued their busy
summer last week by
volunteering at
Rocky Mount's Parks
& Rec Department.
Wesleyan
cheerleaders held a
camp for girls ages
5 to 12 and were
pleased to have 14
campers over the
four-day event,
which was
held at the Senior
Citizens Center
downtown.
Participants were
taught various
cheers, chants, and
dances, as well as
proper motion
technique.
"Many of these
young ladies do
not have
cheerleading
programs in
their schools,"
said McAuliffe.
"The squads that
the Parks and
Recs offer are
the only option
they have to
cheer."
McAuliffe
added, "We
thoroughly
enjoyed working
with all of the
campers."
The camp, organized
by Rocky Mount's
Brenda Bynum, is one
of several summer
activities for
McAuliffe's squad.
The Bishops will
also be
working several
private summer camps
for area middle and
high school squads
as a fundraiser.
Tryouts
for Wesleyan's
2008-09 squad will be held
in September to fill
the team’s remaining
slots. For more
