Rich named NC Wesleyan's Assistant Athletics Director

Rocky Mount, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan Department of Athletics is pleased to announce that Rikki Rich, Sports Information Director and Title IX Coordinator, will be assuming the role of Assistant Athletics Director at the College. In addition to her current duties, Rich will be taking over eligibility certification, handling various NCAA forms and compliance issues, and coordinating the marketing and contacts for the Battling Bishops Club.

“This is a very positive step for our Department and one that will aid all of our programs,” said John Thompson, Vice President, Athletics.

Rich came to N.C. Wesleyan from The University of North Carolina at Pembroke, where she served as Sports Information Director, Senior Woman Administrator and Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations from 2003 to 2005. She had previously received her Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics at UNCP in May of 2001, while completing a minor in Computer Science. A Cum Laude graduate and Chancellor’s Scholar, Rich remained at UNCP and earned her Master’s degree in Mathematics Education in May of 2003 before accepting a permanent position with her alma mater.

A Rocky Mount native, Rich joined the Battling Bishops in July of 2005 as Sports Information Director and was named Title IX Coordinator in the summer of 2007.  During her tenure at NCWC, she has handled all media needs for the College’s 13 varsity sports, including design and maintenance of the official athletics website. Most recently, she was named Chair of the USA South Sports Information Committee.

“I am grateful for this opportunity,” said Rich. “I look forward to serving the Department of Athletics in this capacity and am excited about the direction we are headed.”

She and her husband, Marcus, live in Rocky Mount and have one daughter: Addison, 2.
