Cross Country to sponsor First Annual
5K & Fun Run to benefit TS4A
Rocky Mount, NC
-
The North Carolina
Wesleyan women's cross country program, under the
direction of head coach Dominic Modise, is pleased to
announce its plans to sponsor NCWC's First Annual 5K and
1-Mile Fun Run to benefit Tennis Shoes 4 Africa.
The February 21st race will feature a fast, flat course
that begins on campus and takes runners through the
adjacent Ford's Colony neighborhood. The cost is $25 to
participate in the 5K and $20 to participate in the Fun
Run. All proceeds go directly to TS4A.
TS4A
was instituted by Modise last season and revolves around
the donation of used pairs of shoes that will be shipped
to his hometown of Mmabatho, South Africa. There, kids
fight the effects of poverty and disease on a daily
basis, and while many children
dream of playing tennis and other sports, they cannot
afford the necessary shoes and equipment. Tennis Shoes 4
Africa brings these children one step closer to their
dream of participating in sports.
