NC Wesleyan men's athletics earns share of President's Cup

Fayetteville, NC - Following the conclusion of 2009-2010 USA South competition, the standings for the Overall, Men's and Women's President's Cups have been determined. The 2009-2010 season is the fifth year the USA South has presented three Cups, and although Christopher Newport University has claimed all three cups for the fourth consecutive year, the Captains will share this season's Men's Cup with the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan. The Bishops earned the institution's first-ever recognition after capturing a league-best four USA South Regular Season Championships.

North Carolina Wesleyan earned the institution's first-ever President's Cup thanks to the stellar performances of their men's programs this season. The Battling Bishops captured four conference regular season men's championships (football, men's basketball, baseball, & men's tennis) and finished as the runner-up in one other men's sport, soccer. Wesleyan's men's golf team placed fifth in the USA South Tournament to help secure the shared title. As a overall program, the Bishops placed third with volleyball's regular season runner-up finish highlighting the women's side.

The USA South Athletic Conference President's Cup symbolizes the league's top men's and women's athletic program each year. The President's Cup is awarded by a points system where the first place team in each sport will be awarded the number of points that corresponds to the number of schools that sponsor teams in that sport. The second place team receives one point less than the first place team and so on, down to one point for the last place team that competes.

The final 2009-2010 USA South President's Cup standings follow:
