PEACE
ELIMINATES TOP-SEEDED HORNETS WITH 3-2 WIN
BURLINGTON,
N.C. -
The Peace Pacers
knocked the
#1 seeded Shenandoah Hornets
out of the USA South Athletic Conference
tournament with a 3-2 win on Saturday
morning. Peace had a stellar
pitching
performance from Ashley Stansbury, who gave
up two runs on four
hits in moving to 13-9 on
the season.
In the
top of the fourth inning, Shenandoah had
an RBI-single from Lauren Wall
to get things
started for the Hornets.
Peace
answered in the bottom of the inning
and took the lead on a two-RBI
double off of the
wall by Holly Braswell in right center field.
Peace
added another run as Stephanie
Monette scored on a fielding error by
Shenandoah.
The
Hornets got back on the board in the fifth as Renoula Jones scored on a
throwing
error to the second baseman. Peace got out of the inning with
a double play.
Katie
Haskins (17-5) took the loss for the Hornets.
Peace
(27-16), the 5th-seed, next faces the loser of the #3 Methodist and #2
Christopher Newport game at 2:00 p.m. Shenandoah sees its season end at
28-12.
