PEACE ELIMINATES TOP-SEEDED HORNETS WITH 3-2 WIN

BURLINGTON, N.C. - The Peace Pacers
knocked the #1 seeded Shenandoah Hornets
out of the USA South Athletic Conference
tournament with a 3-2 win on Saturday
morning.  Peace had a stellar pitching
performance from Ashley Stansbury, who gave
up two runs on four hits in moving to 13-9 on
 the season.

In the top of the fourth inning, Shenandoah had
an RBI-single from Lauren Wall to get things
 started for the Hornets.

Peace answered in the bottom of the inning
and took the lead on a two-RBI double off of the
wall by Holly Braswell in right center field.
Peace added another run as Stephanie
Monette scored on a fielding error by
 Shenandoah.

The Hornets got back on the board in the fifth as Renoula Jones scored on a throwing
error to the second baseman.  Peace got out of the inning with a double play.

Katie Haskins (17-5) took the loss for the Hornets.

Peace (27-16), the 5th-seed, next faces the loser of the #3 Methodist and #2
Christopher Newport game at 2:00 p.m. Shenandoah sees its season end at 28-12.
