 SUNDAY, APRIL 19th

 CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT CAPTURES SECOND STRAIGHT TOURNEY CHAMPIONSHIP

 BURLINGTON, N.C. -- Top-seeded Christopher Newport captured its second
 consecutive USA South Softball Tournament championship with a 4-1 win over 2nd-
 seeded Shenandoah on Sunday, April 19. With the score tied 1-1 in the bottom of the
 sixth inning, the Captains' Kristen Nickloy hit a three-run home run which gave CNU the
 lead for good.

 Kristen Rowe shutdown the Hornets in the top-half of the seventh to secure the win.
 Rowe tossed seven-complete innings, allowing one unearned run on five hits with one
 walk and six strikeouts. For her efforts during the weekend, Rowe earned tournament
 MVP honors.

 Shenandoah's Cat Beuerle scored the Hornets' only run as she went 1-for-3.
