GREENSBORO COMES FROM BEHIND TO DOWN MEREDITH, 2-1, IN EIGHT INNINGS

  BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The 3rd-seeded Greensboro Pride
defeated the 6th-seeded Meredith Avenging Angels by a
2-1 score in eight innings.  Greensboro won on a hit by
Britney Smith scoring Ashley Pennington to stay in the
winner’s bracket to play on Saturday.

The game remained scoreless until the top for the sixth
inning when Meredith (13-18) took a 1-0 lead.  Becki
Roebock scored on a suicide squeeze bunt by Logan
Hill.  Greensboro (20-16) had two runners on in the

Meredith entered the bottom of the seventh inning with a

Greensboro gained outs by a fielder’s choice and tag out at second base.  Greensboro
then loaded the bases, with Stout striking out the third batter to put it into extra innings.

The Pride shut down Meredith in the top of the eighth inning.  In the bottom of the inning,
Pennington got things going with a single.  Kendra Leghart flied out to first base.  Teer
then singled to short stop to move Pennington to second.  Smith then hit a single to right
