BURLINGTON, N.C. -- The Batting Bishops defeated the
Avenging Angels 10-2 in five innings, thereby
eliminating
Meredith from the 2009 USA South Softball Tournament.
NC Wesleyan continues play on Saturday facing Ferrum
at 10 a.m.,
while Meredith completes their season.

Wesleyan (10-26) got on the board first, scoring two
in the bottom
of the second inning. Carla Pridgen had a
two-RBI double to score
two runs for the Battling Bishops.
The Bishops also had hits from
Jessica Poindexter and
Dani Abbey.
The
Bishops put eight runs up in the fourth. Gallop scored
on a passed
ball after reaching base on a walk and stealing second. Meredith
Mills
also had an RBI-single to right field to score Jena McFadden.
Kate Braun scored on a
passed ball and Mills and McCord scored on
bases loaded walk. Abbey and
Poindexter scored on a throwing error
by Patricia Davis.
Meredith (13-19) put two runs up in the top of the fifth, with Dana
Higgins and Patricia
Davis scoring. Davis got on base with a
single.
