BURLINGTON, N.C. --
#2 Shenandoah and #3 Greensboro faced
off in the winners'
bracket
quarterfinal at Noon on Saturday with Shenandoah
scoring a 7-4 victory.
The
Hornets faced a 4-0 deficit going
into the top of the seventh and scored seven runs to
secure the win. SU
and CNU will play in the winner’s bracket
semifinal at 4 p.m.,
while
Greensboro will drop
to the losers' bracket and play
Averett at 2 p.m.
Greensboro gained hits early off
Shenandoah pitcher Katie Haskins in the first inning
with an
RBI-single from Ashley Pennington to score leadoff hitter Brittany
Smith. The
Pride added three more runs in the third inning with
three hits including a 2-RBI double
by Pennington to score Becca
Pink and Olivia McPherson. McPherson also had an RBI
single to
score Ryeleigh Loftin.
Shenandoah made a seventh inning rally
exploding for seven runs on four hits. The
tying run was scored by
Haskins as the Lauren Wall was hit by a pitch with bases
loaded.
The next three runs were scored on bases loaded walks.
Shenandoah pitcher Brooke Over gains
the relief appearance win moving her record to
9-6 on the season.
Over struck out seven giving up only two hits in five innings
pitched.
