Edge Field was named in honor of Jean Edge, the first head softball and women’s basketball coach in NC Wesleyan history. The field is adjacent to Bauer Baseball Field and measures 190 ft. down the lines and 220 ft. to center. It is within brief walking distance of the newly constructed field house. Edge Field offers Bishops softball players a chance to compete on high-quality infield surface and Bermuda tifton grass outfield. The field also features covered dugouts.

The Lady Bishop Softball Team is a high powered competitor with five USA South Conference (formerly Dixie) Championships and two NCAA tournament appearances. Wesleyan's softball program is strengthened by those we play against. In the past we have played teams such as Yale University, Campbell University, Charleston Southern University, Elon College, Longwood College, Salisbury State University, Mary Washington College, and Chowan College.
