Volleyball falls in semifinals, George ends Bishop career

Newport News, VA - North Carolina Wesleyan's volleyball season came to an end on Friday night as the Bishops fell 3-0 to top-seeded Christopher Newport in the 2007 USA South Tournament Semifinals.  Game scores were 30-13, 30-19, and 30-25.  Wesleyan finishes the season with a 21-14 overall record and says farewell to senior setter Caitlin George (pictured), who will be remembered as one of the best players in program history.

With 12 assists and two aces at CNU on Friday night, George ends her four-year career with 3,927 assists (1st all-time) and 269 service aces (2nd all-time).  Her 1,260 assists in 2007 also set a new single season record.

As a team, the Bishops' 21 wins gave the program its fourth 20-win season in history, two of which belong to head coach Robin Pietryk.  George was a part of both as the first came during her freshman campaign.

The talented Captains, however, were too much for the Bishops on Friday as they tallied 51 kills as a team and a .269 hitting percentage.  They are now 30-6 on the season and will face 2nd-seeded Greensboro College in Saturday's Tournament Championship.
