Fayetteville, NC - The USA South Athletic Conference has announced its All-Conference awards for women's basketball with a total of 31 student-athletes earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan senior guard Essence Chambers was tabbed a Second Team selection after averaging 18 points and four assists per game. This marks the second consecutive season that Chambers has earned Second Team honors.

Chambers (pictured left) ranked third in the league in scoring and fourth in assists over the course of the 2008-09 season. She also ranked second in steals with 86 and second in free throws made with 132.  Chambers wrapped up her two-year Battling Bishop career with 846 total points, 214 rebounds, 182 assists, and 174 steals.

The USA South also recognized an All-Sportsmanship Team, consisting of one member from each competing school. All awards are voted on by the women's basketball coach at each institution.  NC Wesleyan's representative was freshman Dani Abbey.

Other major awards included Greensboro's Dione Eccles earning Player of the Year honors, and her coach, Jason Tuggle, being named Coach of the Year. Christopher Newport's Kimmy Hopkins collected Rookie of the Year accolades. The complete 2008-09 All-Conference teams follow.
