- The USA South has announced its All-Conference awards for
women's basketball with a total of 31 student-athletes
earning recognition. North Carolina Wesleyan senior guard
Essence Chambers was tabbed a Second Team selection after
averaging 18 points and four assists per game. This marks
the second consecutive season that Chambers has earned
Second Team honors. more

Wesleyan women's basketball season ends in USAC Tourney
Greensboro, NC
- North Carolina Wesleyan saw its 2008-09 women's basketball
season come to a close on Tuesday evening, falling to
top-seeded Greensboro College by an 85-48 score in the first
round of the USA South Conference Tournament. Playing her
final game for the Blue & Gold, senior Essence Chambers
(pictured) scored a game-high 27 points, grabbed seven
rebounds, and collected six steals. Her Battling Bishops
finish the season with a 6-20 overall mark.

Wesleyan men's and women's hoop squads honor 2009 seniors

- Prior to the start
of Saturday's men's and women's basketball games versus Ferrum, head coaches
John Brackett and John Thompson took time to honor their 2009 seniors. On the women's side, the Bishops recognized Essence
Chambers, while on the men's side, the Bishops honored Adam
Coleman and Buddy Williams.

Bishop women celebrate Senior Day with 78-71 victory
over FC
Rocky Mount, NC -
The women's basketball team of North Carolina Wesleyan
celebrated 2009 Parent's Day and Senior Day in style on
Saturday evening by turning a 78-71 victory over Ferrum
College. Essence Chambers, the Bishops' lone senior, made
her last game in Everett Gymnasium a memorable one with a
game-high 26 points, six assists, and six steals. Chambers
(pictured left with Coach John Brackett) also had a solid
game on Friday, netting 18 points in Wesleyan's 57-55
last-second loss to Averett University.

drops two on the road at Methodist

NC
Wesleyan’s hoops squads suffered a USA South sweep on the road at Methodist
University on Monday night. In the men’s game, the
Monarchs used an 11-2 run midway through the second
half to score a 77-72 victory, while on the women’s
side, Methodist overcame a 14-point first half
deficit to steal a 70-65 win.
