Richardson runs in final
USA South meet, Bishops finish eighth
Greensboro, NC
- Senior Juliana Richardson
ran the final USA South meet of her career on Saturday
morning, leading her Battling Bishops to an 8th-place finish
at the 6K event held in Greensboro. The first four-year
senior in North Carolina Wesleyan cross country history,
Richardson (pictured) turned in a time of 31:21 to finish
45th among 67 runners. She finished behind junior teammate
Carole Ateba, who set a new NCWC record in the meet with a
time of 30:36.
Also competing for the
Bishops were Hanna Hietanen (32:22), Bristy Parker (35:50),
and Amanda Frimpong (38:31). As a team, Wesleyan
turned in a score of 217 points.
Christopher Newport earned
four of the top five finishes to take the Championship with
23 points. Shenandoah took second, followed by Mary Baldwin
in third. The Captains' Dira Hansen captured medalist
honors with a time of 23:52.
The top 15 runners at the
meet were named to the USA South All-Conference team. For
the third straight year, Richardson was chosen as Wesleyan's
representative on the All-Sportsmanship squad.
Saturday's meet marked the
end of the 2009 NCWC cross country season.
