Methodist defeats Wesleyan lacrosse, 21-4

Fayetteville, NC - The Monarchs of Methodist College defeated North Carolina Wesleyan by a 21-4 score in Tuesday's USA South lacrosse action in Fayetteville.  Methodist jumped out to a 13-2 lead at the break and did not look back en route to the their ninth straight victory.  With the loss, the Lady Bishops drop to 2-8 on the season, 1-3 in conference play.

Wesleyan, coming off its first-ever USA South win on Saturday, struggled to find offense in the opening period.  The Monarchs jumped out to a 3-0 lead before NCWC's Buffy Casto found Allie Stylc for the Bishops' first goal.  Methodist, however, answered with a 7-0 run before Casto notched a goal of her own to end the drought.

The Monarchs extended the lead in the second half, out-scoring the Bishops by an 8-2 score.  MC's Lauren McGonagle scored three of her game-high six goals in the period.  For Wesleyan in the second half, Casto scored her second goal of the game, while freshman Mikey Case connected on her first career goal.

For the game, Methodist out-shot the Bishops 36-13.  NCWC goalie Cary Trump recorded nine saves.

The Lady Bishops return to action on Friday when they host Division II St. Andrews at 4:00 p.m.
