Guilford lacrosse upends Lady Bishops, 21-8

Greensboro, NC - The Quakers of Guilford College had eight different players score en route to a 21-8 victory over North Carolina Wesleyan in Wednesday's lacrosse action in Greensboro.  Guilford was led by the sophomore tandem of Mary Hutchins' and Jordan Clodfelter, who combined for eight goals and five assists.  Guilford improves to 4-5 on the season, while the Lady Bishops drop to 2-10 overall.

In the opening period, the Quakers out-shot the Bishops 27-9 and jumped out to an 11-1 lead.  Guilford held a 14-6 advantage at the break, and NCWC would get no closer than the halftime score.

Wesleyan head coach Lorin Smith made a key defensive change at the half, placing leading scorer Buffy Casto in goal.  Casto, who had scored three first-half goals to up her season total to 50, faced 16 shots and had five saves.

Sarah Smith and Haley Griffiths had two goals apiece for the Bishops, while Allie Stylc had one.  Smith added an assist.

Wesleyan returns to USA South action on the road at Shenandoah University on Saturday.  Game time is slated for 2:00 p.m. in Winchester, VA.
