Randolph-Macon defeats Wesleyan lacrosse, 17-4

Rocky Mount, NC - The Yellow Jackets of Randolph-Macon College erased an early 2-0 deficit with three goals by Liz Lombardo and went on to defeat North Carolina Wesleyan by a 17-4 score in Thursday afternoon women's lacrosse action.  RMC evens their record at 1-1 on the season, while the Lady Bishops are now 1-3 overall.

Current USA South Rookie of the Week Buffy Casto gave the Bishops a quick lead with a goal and an assist in the first three minutes of the contest. Casto took a pass from Haley Griffiths for the game's first goal and later fed Allie Stylc to give NCWC a 2-0 lead.

Lombardo led the RMC charge with three consecutive unassisted goals, igniting a 6-0 run by the Jackets. Casto pulled Wesleyan to within 6-3, but RMC would close out the half with two goals in the final two minutes to take an 8-3 lead into the break.

It was all Jackets in the second half as RMC out-scored the Bishops 9-1.  Lombardo finished with six goals, while Traci Phipps added four.  Lizzy Spero chipped in with two goals and three assists.

Casto notched NCWC's lone goal in the final period and finished with three on the day.

Wesleyan will travel to Bryn Mawr College on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. contest.
