Lacrosse's Smith makes sideline return to alma mater

Greensboro, NC - North Carolina Wesleyan lacrosse coach Lorin Smith made the return to her alma mater on Tuesday, leading her Lady Bishop squad against Greensboro College.  Smith (pictured), who holds nearly every lacrosse record in Pride history, came up just short in her first coaching appearance versus GC.  The Lady Bishops (1-7, 0-2) fell by a 17-6 score.

The Pride (5-1, 4-0) jumped out to a 3-0 lead before Buffy Casto notched an unassisted goal at the 25:36 mark.  Greensboro answered with two more goals before Casto struck again with a second Bishop score.  The Pride ended the half on a 5-0 run to take a 10-2 lead into intermission.

The second half was played fairly even as GC out-scored the Bishops just 7-4.  Casto tallied two more goals, while Sarah Smith and Rachel Rosenbarker also recorded scores.  Rosenbarker's was her first of the season.

For the game, the Pride out-shot Wesleyan 36-15.  Jennifer Donah and Jenna Gast each had four goals for Greensboro.

NC Wesleyan returns to USA South conference action on Saturday when the Lady Bishops host Ferrum College at 4:00 p.m. at Scalf Field.
