to the NCWC cage for
a 1-0 Knights' lead
just 12 seconds into
the contest. St.
Andrews added three
more goals in the
opening four minutes
to take a 4-0 lead
that they never
relinquished.
St. Andrews won
12-of-13 draw
controls in the
first half to
maintain control of
the ball for the
majority of the
opening 30 minutes,
forging a 10-2 lead
at the break.
The Knights scored
the first five goals
of the second half
and cruised to the
15-goal victory.
Sophomore Katie
Wright led St.
Andrews offensively
with seven points,
including a hat
trick and a
game-high four
assists.
The Knights
dominated the
scorebook by taking
more shots, 58-13;
scooping up more
ground balls, 34-17;
winning more draw
controls, 19-8; and
committing fewer
turnovers, 35-25.
Eryn McCaffrey made
five saves on eight
Wesleyan
shots-on-goal to
earn her fifth win
of the season.
Sophomore Cary Trump
stopped an
impressive 22 shots
for the visitors.
Katelyn Guinn and
senior Allie Stylc
each had two goals
for the Bishops.
Previously on
Tuesday, Wesleyan
dropped its final
USA South contest of
the season by a
14-10 score at
Averett University.
The Bishops trailed
just 6-5 at
intermission and
managed to tie the
game early in the
second half, but a
3-0 Cougar run put
AU on top for good.
NCWC finished 1-5 in
league play.
