Wesleyan lacrosse drops two at Disney Tournament

Orlando, FL - The North Carolina Wesleyan lacrosse squad dropped two matches this week at the 2007 Walt Disney Invitational in Orlando, FL.  The Battling Bishops fell to Gwynedd-Mercy on Monday by a 15-3 score and Roanoke College on Wednesday by a 22-2 score.  Wesleyan is now 1-4 on the season.

On Monday, the Bishops and Gwynedd-Mercy played a close first half with GMC taking a slim 5-2 lead into the break.  Wesleyan, however, could not overcome a 6-0 run to start the second half en route to the 15-3 defeat.

Senior Allie Stylc scored two goals and Katelyn Guinn one in the losing effort.  Cary Trump and Sarah Matulich notched one assist apiece.  Freshman Sarah Seligman took the loss in goal and made nine saves on the day.

Gwynedd-Mercy out-shot Wesleyan 29-11 in the contest.

On Wednesday, Roanoke built a 14-1 halftime advantage and breezed to the 22-2 win.

Stylc again paced the Bishops on offense with an unassisted goal, while Lauren Stearns also notched a score for Wesleyan.  Seligman took the loss in goal, splitting time with Guinn between the pipes.

Wesleyan returns to action on Sunday when the Bishops host Notre Dame (MD) at 12:00 p.m.
