in lacrosse action, 18-4

Carolina Wesleyan 11-2
in the second half on
Wednesday afternoon,
sealing an 18-4 win over
the Bishops in USA South
women's lacrosse action
at Scalf Field.
Freshman goalie Sarah
Seligman tallied a
season-high 20 saves in
the losing effort.
Wesleyan is now 1-6 on
the season, 0-2 in
conference play. The
Lady Pride improved to
4-1 overall, 3-0 in
league action.
NCWC's Lauren Stearns
scored the game's first
goal unassisted to give
the Bishops an early 1-0
lead. Greensboro,
however, reeled off the
next five goals to take
a 5-1 advantage that
they would not
relinquish. Caroline
Young's score at the
13:16 mark proved to be
the eventual gamewinner.
After taking a 7-2 lead
into the break, the
Pride put to rest any
thoughts of a Bishop
comeback by scoring
eight of the final
period's first nine
goals for a 15-3 lead.
Young led all scorers
with five goals and
three assists. Monika
Hulcher and Jenna Gast
added three goals
apiece, while Kristin
McGuire earned the win
in goal after facing
eight shots and making
two saves.
In addition to Stearns'
goal, senior Allie Stylc
added two scores for the
Bishops. Katelyn Guinn
scored Wesleyan's final
goal on an assist from
Sarah Matulich.
Greensboro out-shot
Wesleyan 42-12 on the
day as the Bishops
committed a crucial 31
turnovers.
Wesleyan continues USA
South action on Saturday
when the Bishops travel
to Ferrum College for a
1:00 p.m. match-up with
the Panthers.
