Two
second half goals lift UMW to 3-1 win over Bishops

The University of Mary Washington used two second half goals
by Kate Parvin to seal a 3-1 women's soccer victory over
North Carolina Wesleyan on Tuesday afternoon at Scalf Field.
NCWC's Aubrey Bonorden (pictured) scored the Bishops' lone
goal for a 1-1 tie at the break, but the Eagle defense
limited Wesleyan to just two shots in the second half en
route to the win. UMW improves to 6-3-4, while the Bishops
drop to 3-5-1 on the season.
UMW's Amy Olsen netted the
first goal of the contest in the 10th minute on an assist by
Rachel Gerstein. Bonorden's unassisted goal came 11 minutes
later when she chipped a 25-yard shot over the head of Eagle
keeper Tina Brehm.
In the second half, Parvin
scored the eventual game-winner in the 76th minute on
another Gerstein assist. She effectively put the
contest out of reach with an unassisted score with 2:20
remaining.
The Eagles out-shot the
Bishops 18-5 on the day and held a 5-2 advantage in corner
kicks. NCWC keeper Bryanne Godfrey finished with an
impressive eight saves in 90 minutes of play.
NCWC
returns to USA South action on Saturday when the Bishops
travel to Mary Baldwin College. Game time is slated for
1:00 p.m. in Staunton, VA.
