USA South announces All-Conference awards for fall sports

Fayetteville, NC - The USA South has announced its All-Conference awards for volleyball and soccer.  North Carolina Wesleyan had 17 athletes earn recognition, while three Bishops were named to their respective All-Sportsmanship teams.  Among the 17 honorees, there were six First Team picks, four Second Team picks, three Third Team picks, and four Honorable Mentions. more >

NCWC women's soccer ends season with 4-0 loss to Monarchs

Fayetteville, NC - The North Carolina Wesleyan women's soccer team saw its 2008 season come to an end on Tuesday afternoon with a 4-0 loss to Methodist University in the first round of the USA South Conference Tournament. The Bishops forced a 0-0 tie at the half, but the Monarchs scored four unanswered goals in the final period to advance. Wesleyan finishes the season at 6-10-1 overall. more >

Bishop women down Averett 5-0 in regular season finale

Rocky Mount, NC - On "Think Pink" day at Scalf Field, the women's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan picked up an impressive 5-0 shutout of Averett University in the regular season finale for both squads. Senior Reva McCloud (pictured) scored the eventual gamewinner in the 20th minute and went on to dish out two more assists in the final home game of her career. The Bishops (6-9-1) will enter next week's USA South Conference Tournament as the #6 seed with a 4-4-1 league mark. more >

CNU earns 2-0 win over Wesleyan in women's soccer action

Rocky Mount, NC - Christopher Newport University scored two first half goals on Wednesday afternoon at Scalf Field, and it was all the Captains would need to remain perfect in USA South play as they captured a 2-0 win over the homestanding Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan. With the win, CNU improves to 11-6-1 on the season, 8-0 in league play. Despite turning in a solid performance, the Battling Bishops fall to 5-9-1 overall, 3-4-1 in conference action. more >

Bishop women celebrate Senior Day with 2-1 win over Ferrum

Rocky Mount, NC - The women's soccer team of North Carolina Wesleyan celebrated its 2008 Senior Day in style on Saturday, picking up a thrilling 2-1 win over Ferrum College at Scalf Field. Fittingly, it was senior captain Tori Tenner who headed home the gamewinner with just 33 seconds remaining to break a 1-1 tie and effectively end a game that seemed destined for overtime. Prior to the match, head coach Beverly Biancur and her squad honored their eight seniors: Bryanne Godfrey, Reva McCloud, Mikey Case, Alex Fountaine, Rachel Hernandez, Lauren Stearns, Megan Kintner, and Tenner. more >
