has announced
its
All-Conference
awards for
baseball,
softball,
tennis, and
golf.
North Carolina
Wesleyan had 15
athletes earn
recognition,
while five
Bishops were
named to their
respective
All-Sportsmanship
teams.
Among the 15
honorees, there
were six First
Team picks, five
Second Team
picks, and four
Honorable
Mentions.
Leading the way
were senior Ben
Moore of
baseball and
sophomore Antti
Saari of men's
tennis, who each
garnered Player
of the Year
accolades.

Wesleyan women's tennis
team saw its 2009 season
come to an end on
Tuesday afternoon,
falling to Ferrum
College by a 6-3 score
in the first round of
the USA South Conference
Tournament. Sophomores
Jaime Galasso (pictured)
and Leila Heinonen
scored all three of the
Battling Bishops' points
with a victory at #1
doubles, as well as wins
at #1 and #2 singles.
NCWC finishes the season
with a 1-15 overall
record.

Methodist University on
Wednesday afternoon, the
North Carolina Wesleyan
men's tennis team has
captured the 2009 USA
South Regular Season
Championship! The
Bishops, who knocked off
Averett by a 6-3 score
on Monday, ran the table
in conference play en
route to the program's
fourth league
championship and first
since 1976. In women's
play, the Bishops fell
by
8-1 and 9-0 scores to
the Cougars and
Monarchs, respectively.

two league wins, women

- Dustin Hale, the lone
senior member of the
North Carolina Wesleyan
men's tennis team, did
his part to help his
23rd-ranked Bishops to
two USA South victories
over the weekend, going
2-0 in both singles and
doubles play versus Ferrum and Greensboro,
respectively. With the
victories, Wesleyan's
perfect record remains
in tact at 10-0 overall,
4-0 in league play. On
the women's side, the
Bishops (1-11, 0-6 USAC)
dropped the pair of
matches by 6-3 and 8-1
scores.

- Freshman Marcelo Prata
picked up a 9-7 win at
#2 doubles and a 6-4,
6-2 win at #4 singles to
help lead his
23rd-ranked NCWC men's
tennis team to a
dominating 8-1 win over
Christopher Newport on
Tuesday. On the women's
side, sophomore Jaime
Galasso (pictured) was
an 8-6 winner at #1
doubles and a 6-0, 6-1
winner at #1 singles as
her Bishops dropped a
hardfought 6-3 decision.

tennis action

- The North Carolina
Wesleyan women's tennis
team dropped a pair of
matches this week,
falling at home to Peace
College on Wednesday by
a 6-0 score before
dropping an 8-1 decision
to Hollins University on
Sunday in Fayetteville.
The Bishops' lone point
came at #4 singles where
sophomore Tija Riley
(pictured) knocked off
HU's Lydia Coyne 7-5,
6-4. With the two
losses, the Battling Bishops are
now 1-8 on the season,
0-3 in USA South play.
