Course Description:

This is a hands-on experiential course at publication production where each student learns their own personal role and assists in different aspects of a production phase.  Students will be given assignments from the instructor and/or editors.

Course Content:

The following activities represent different phases of the production process and summarize only some of the many details that go into making a yearbook:

            Establishing delegated roles and assignments with other staff members.

Interacting with the public and peers.

Developing photography and layout skills.

Learning responsibility, dependability and accountability.

Attendance and Behavior Code:

Class attendance is expected!  Role will be taken during each class!  Only two class absences are excused.  A student who must miss class should notify the instructor prior to class.  Students are responsible for all materials discussed or assignments due during their absences.

The instructor may withdraw students from the course after two absences.

Arrive on time and do not leave until class is dismissed.

Evaluation Criteria

There will be one announced test during the semester.  Attendance and participation play a major role in determining grades.  All Herff-Jones publication deadline must be met on time to successfully complete a semester.  Late deadlines will result in a lower grade.

Grades will be determined by a point system.  100 points may be obtained.
