Mission Statement of the

Multicultural Affairs Advisory Committee

The mission of the North Carolina Wesleyan College Multicultural Awareness Advisory Committee is to create and support an inclusive community by promoting diversity awareness among NCWC students, faculty, staff, and the Rocky Mount community.

 The goals of this advisory committee are to:

• assess multicultural attitudes;
• define multiculturalism, increase knowledge of multicultural issues, and facilitate positive interaction within the Wesleyan community*;
• promote cultural sensitivity in teaching and learning through workshops, programs, and other activities.

*A multicultural community includes differences based on age, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, social status, educational background, religion, physical characteristics, learning styles, disabilities, and national/regional origin.
