Residence Life
Safety
Keep your door locked at all times, even if you will be out of
the room for only a couple of minutes. Keep you window locked unless you are in
the room.
Do not let anyone into your residence hall unless you are sure they are a
resident of your building.
Keep your car locked and the windows rolled up at all times. Remember to keep
all valuable possessions out of sight.
If you would like an escort at night anywhere on campus, contact Security at
x7374.
Each night there is a Resident Advisor on duty in each residence hall. The RA
and their phone number is posted on the office door. Also, there is at least one
Security Officer on campus at all times that are available for any emergency.
Fire Safety and Equipment
Fire safety equipment is to be used in the case of an emergency.
Tampering with this equipment is prohibited. Room smoke detectors are wired to
the main fire system and will jeopardize the entire system if tampered with.
Open flames, including candles and incense, are not permitted in residence halls
or on porches. Oil lamps, halogen lamps and electric or kerosene heaters are
also prohibited.
You must vacate the Residence Hall when the fire alarm is sounding. College
staff members will let you know when it is safe to re-enter the building.
Fireworks, Firearms, and Weapons
Possession of any firearm, explosive, fireworks, or any other weapon is not permitted on campus and may be a violation of North Carolina law.
